Class Approach
We use teaching materials aimed to help each student with their individual learning goals, level, and progress. Students study with a volunteer teacher in a one-on-one or a small group setting.
Helping People from All Over the World
We have taught over 500 people from over 38 countries, including Algeria, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, the Philippines, Spain, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, the USA, and Vietnam.
Other Activities
In addition to the Shijonawate Japanese Class, we hold various events during the year such as “Hanami” (Cherry Blossom Viewing), “Bon Odori on Yukata” (Summer Festival) the “International Exchange Waku-Waku Party,” and a speech for foreigners at the Community Center Festival.
These events allow the students to demonstate the Japanese they have learned, as well as giving them the opportunity to socialize with other students, the volunteer teachers, people living in Shijonawate City, and people in the surrounding community.
Become a Volunteer Teacher!
The Shijonawate City Japanese Classroom is looking for volunteer teachers willing to teach everyday Japanese to non-native Japanese speakers, as well as sharing information about the Shijonawate area, daily life, and Japanese culture.
Anyone can be a volunteer! We have students, office workers, housewives, househusbands, retirees, and all kinds of volunteers teaching Japanese in a laid-back, at-home setting while having fun!
Would you like to be a volunteer Japanese teacher and support our international community? If you are interested in applying, would like to see the classroom in session, or if you have any questions, please contact the Shijonawate Community Center for more details.
